Hello Stingray families!

HG Stingrays 2025 Season Registration
To help with planning for the season, we’ve included some high-level details and dates for the season below:
- Informational meeting for new(er) swim team families (or anyone else who would like to attend) – April 30 Clubhouse
- Pool opens (weather permitting) - May 9th.
- Stingrays Kickoff party – Monday, May 12.
- 6/unders and 7/8s swim assessments – Tuesday, May 13th 5:30 till whenever we finish
- 1st day of Practice for everyone starts – Wednesday, May 14th
- Time trials – Tuesday, June 3
- First meet June 10th – at Riverwood
We’ll have more information to share in the coming weeks but we wanted to get this high-level information out as soon as we had confirmation on timing.
You’ll notice that registration fees have gone up a bit this year. It’s been a few years since we increased the fees and we need to keep up with the times, but we will also be providing personalized swim caps for all swimmers this year, so caps shouldn’t get mixed up between the kids!
This year we are going to have a pre-season informational meeting for the new families or anyone else who would like to come. This will take the place of the meeting we’ve been having on opening day the past few years. We thought it best to do this a bit earlier for the new families and young swimmers as families decide if they want to join and can plan for the summer.
The Stingrays season kickoff party will be on Monday May 12th, and we’ll have the entire pool to ourselves so the kids can play and swim. We’ll have music and food, and the kids can meet the coaches.
Also, new this year we will have a dedicated day to work with the 6/unders (and any new 7/8’s who might be less confident in the water). This will take place on Tuesday May 13th and we will take as much time as we need to adequately assess all of the littles so that we can best organize them for efficient practices and to ensure we have the appropriate resources in place to best help them in the water. Depending on our coaches’ availability this year, we may decide to flip-flop our 6 /U and 9/10 practices to ensure we have all hands on deck when it’s most needed. We’ll look out for opinions and feedback from the parents on this change prior to the season start to get a sense of what is best for everyone.
Our first day of practice for everyone will begin on Wednesday, May 14th.
If your child will be new to the swim team or there is a question of their confidence in the water, we highly recommend that you find some time to get them in the water between now and May12th, but the kickoff party will also be a good opportunity to get their feet wet (pun intended!!). Wake county public pools offer several hours for free swim and lap swimming.

Some of the local club teams (e.g. MOR, and WAVE) also have some late spring programs.

Looking forward to seeing those interested at the informational meeting on April 30 and seeing you all out there at the kickoff party! Reminders with dates and times will go out closer to the events.
Catch the fever!
-Shawn
