HG- Stingrays: Interested in becoming a Stroke and Turn Judge?
Hi Stingray families,
As you have likely heard we will be doing volunteer sign up via SignUp Genius this year allowing everyone to choose their preferred roles and dates. Lindsay and I are working to finalize the job needs for each meet and then the Sign Up Geniuses will be sent out- likely early next week.
But- we need to find a few more stroke and turn judges sooner than later. (Alison Burns is returning to this role but she needs friends!!) There is a training required by TSA for this role so we want to identify anyone willing to take this on sooner than later so they have the full options of training sessions. (It's a 90 min session offered several times over the next 3 weeks- the first on Monday 19May.)
A bit about the role: Each team must provide one stroke and turn judge for each meet. The Stroke and Turn Judge is responsible for ensuring proper technique for the first heat of each event.
This role is best for someone that knows a bit about swimming already but that isn't absolutely necessary as long as you are willing to learn and are observant. The training will provide the needed information in terms of what a judge should be looking for ie what actions will result in a DQ.
If you are even remotely interested, please respond to this email or reach out to me at [email protected] and I can answer any questions or provide more information. If we have several people interested we are hoping that we can assign two judges per meet and then each judge would only need to "work" half the meet. (Like we do for Timers currently.)
Thank you and happy Friday!!
Rosie and Lindsay (aka your volunteer coordinators)
