Hi Stingrays,

The weather is looking great for today's Stingrays Kickoff party!

• Come on down to the pool to start the party at 5:30pm.

• Pizza will be served at 6pm

The kids can meet the coaches and have fun in the pool with friends. Plan to wind things down by 8pm so our little Stingrays can get some rest for the rest of the week. A few reminders:

• Tuesday - 6 & under swim assessments only (starts at 5:30pm)
• Wednesday - Practice begins for the whole team (starting with 6 & unders at 5:30pm).
• Thursday - normal afternoon practice schedule
• Friday - No practice
• Monday (5/26) - No practice

One final request.

You all received a notice last week about our annual HGSRC board elections. My board seat at-large is up for re-election this year, and if you haven't already voted, I would like to humbly ask for your vote to maintain my seat on the board for the next cycle.

Having a swim team officer seat on the pool board has made a very positive impact on the team over the past few years. It has been much easier to plan for logistics and advocate for the team with a voting seat on the board. This structure has allowed for the Stingrays to have the full support of the board and I've even been able to build into the pool budget a financial backstop for the team in the event of significant financial hardship (which we've never been privileged to in the past). The HGSRC pool board has been widely supportive of most all requests from the Stingrays during my first cycle on the board (which was not always the case in the past), and we've been able to build a solid partnership with the board which has led to several benefits such as accommodating practice times and reserving the whole pool for the team parties, to name a few, and many other behind the scenes benefits for the team. 

For the sake of the team, I would like for the team to maintain a permanent seat on the HGSRC board by an officer of the Stingrays in order to continue our strong relationship into the future, but this has not yet been codified into the bylaws. I would like the opportunity to continue to work on this objective for the team during the next cycle but I'll need your vote in order to maintain my current position.
