Stingrays- request for volunteers for ribbon label printing during the meet on 17June

Good morning Stingray Families,

The board has decided after a successful night at Riverwood of ribbon printing at the meet and as a result of “encouragement” by the teams we will be hosting at Harrington Grove this season, to switch up how we manage labelling the ribbons swimmer’s earn from a post meet task to printing the labels and attaching them to the ribbons during the meet.

This means that instead of Harrington Grove giving the AWAY team just the ribbons they earned at the end of the meet and letting them figure out how to print labels and attach the labels to the correct ribbons, we will need volunteers to help with the printing and affixing process as all will happen at the meet- likely in the clubhouse or very near the clubhouse. (This does pivot Michelle’s role a bit (her family previously was printing all HG ribbons and sticking and filing the day after the meet) but she will still be supporting the ribbon printing activities during the meet, managing all the filing and the procurement of ribbons in the offseason etc.)

We will need two volunteers, and these roles are currently not on the sign up genius- please respond to this email (and cc Lindsay- [email protected]) if you would be interested in helping with this during the meet this week.

There will be one or two volunteers from the AWAY team also that is supporting this task. Based on experiences at AWAY meets that printed labels on the pool deck, it’s a start and stop sort of task so you should be able to still watch your kid’s swim. It’s busy right after each event as that’s when the ribbons are printed but then is slow until the next batch is printed.

If possible, we would like one person to bring a laptop and have access to Swimtopia to be able to manage the printing. (We’ll help figure this out- don’t worry!) We would also prefer that at least one volunteer is available for this role at the meet on 01JUL also. (I’ll be missing that meet and would like for there to be consistency between the two meets so it’s smooth sailing after we get the kinks out this week.)

If you are interested, please reach out. If you are already signed up for other jobs for this meet or future meets, if we officially assign you to this ribbon task, we will remove you from your future assignment.

Thanks for everyone’s support as we learn as we go this year!

Rosie and Lindsay
